"You evidently don’t know me," [FINA]

Ah, the public - "the great unobservant public" - you can count on them to keep only the most recent events, movies and books at the top of their mind. For example any new Hollywood list of "the greatest ___ movie of all time" typically contains an inordinant amount of recent box office hits.

The publishers Bloomsbury recently asked 16,000 British schoolchildren who their favorite literary villain of all time was. It's no surprise that it was Lord Voldemort - these are children, after all. The top 10 also included Lex Luthor, the Joker (literary?) and Count Dracula.

Sherlock Holmes' arch-enemy, that Napoleon of Crime, Professor Moriarty managed to come in at number 14.

Hey, I'm impressed the kids knew about him at all.
