A real-life version of "The Lion's Mane" occurred in Westport, Massachusetts, near Boston. While not a Lion's Mane (aka Cyanaea capillata), it was no less traumatic when a swimmer was severely stung by two Portuguese Man-of-War jellyfish. Understandably, the victim said:
"It was the most excruciating situation I have ever been in. The pain was incredible."
